One of the most basic tenets of our faith is the inscription above. God’s nature is love and overflowing goodness. Because of this love, he sent his only begotten son to die. He was buried and resurrected for our sins on the third day. Through this act, we now have access to eternal life. This is the gospel that saves us, and in the Discover Gospel Artists(DGA) series, our goal is to celebrate artists who spread this gospel in chords, lyrics, and harmonies.
Today's spotlight is thrown on Love Abolade. Love is a gospel singer, a graduate of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, and a music minister at CCI Ife. She released her first single "God is Faithful" in 2020 and the song has blessed a lot of souls.
Now, let’s meet Love:
Hi Love, can you tell us a bit about your salvation story?
Well, my salvation story surely wasn't dramatic. I don't even think I have a clear picture of the day and what happened precisely.
However, I'm sure that I understood the gospel for the first time when I got to Charis Fellowship International, at Obafemi Awolowo University. My Pastor taught a series on the Believers' Identity, and that was the "aha" moment for me. It just dawned on me that something huge is living on my inside, that I house God and he lives big inside of me. I believed and confessed the gospel that day and my God- ordained journey began.
Hmm, amazing. Was that also what inspired you to do 'Jesus' music ?
Uhmm, as far as I can remember, I have always wanted to do music. Infact, there was basically no fuss about it because I was born into a Christian family and my parents are musicians as well. So, I’ve always been a church girl but I didn’t understand much till I got admitted to OAU and joined a family (Charis Fellowship International). This family helped me discover my purpose and groomed me in that direction. Summarily, I’d say my parents and school fellowship influenced me.
That's awesome. Can you tell us something interesting about you ( that your fans probably do not know about ) ?
Err, that should be the fact that there's a lot more to me than people see. I'm a southpaw and a career/ businesswoman. Asides from music, I'm into Public Relations and I have basic knowledge in a lot of digital skills (social media management, content creation, and marketing, graphic design e.t.c).
Also, I still live with my parents 🙈.
